About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. This role is crucial for maintaining the reliability of our heavy equipment and diesel-powered machinery within a steel mill and industrial environment. You will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring our fleet operates efficiently. This position offers consistent full-time hours, with options for day or night shifts, and involves working on a modern fleet of heavy earth-moving and mining equipment.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment
• Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, powertrain, electronic/electrical systems, diesel engines
• Experience with diagnostic software such as Cat SIS, Cummins INSITE, Volvo Penta, etc.
• Intermediate computer skills
• Ability to work independently and make sound troubleshooting decisions
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable record
• Must have your own tools from ¼ inch to 1 inch drive impact wrenches, socket sets, and wrenches up to 2 inches
• Willingness to work shift schedules, overtime, and occasional weekends

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment and diesel-powered machinery
• Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and component replacements
• Respond to service calls and complete work orders accurately
• Maintain fleet reliability for steel mill and mobile equipment operations
• Utilize diagnostic software and maintenance systems to track repairs
• Communicate equipment status and parts needs with site leadership
• Other duties as required
