Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • 5+ years of experience using diagnostic software for major equipment brands such as: Cat ET, Komatsu Heavy Equipment, Cummins Insite, Heavy Equipment Prosis, Volvo Heavy Equipment.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
  • Pass a pre-employment Fit for Work physical.
  • Provide valid documentation for I-9 Immigration compliance.
  • Consistently display a professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and overtime when required.
  • Report to work promptly at designated start times.
  • Operate various equipment safely and in accordance with fleet safety standards.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet fleet safety program requirements.
  • Travel to different job sites using personal transportation and work away from home as needed.
  • Strict adherence to all safety requirements and company procedures.
  • Work collaboratively in a team setting, providing assistance to colleagues and supervisors as needed.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, per OSHA/MSHA regulations.
  • Demonstrate physical capability to climb into equipment cabs using three-point entry.
  • Lift and carry objects weighing 50-70 lbs. between different levels and locations.
  • Exert force to move objects up to 70 lbs., push/pull and reach as needed.
  • Kneel, stoop, bend, and twist as required for repairs and maintenance.
  • Work in environments with significant noise, fumes, and airborne dust.
  • Occasional exposure to carbon monoxide, ozone, and other hazardous gases.
  • Operate in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, with risk of slipping or exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Consistently wear required safety gear, including hard hat, safety glasses, vest, gloves, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection.

Responsibilities

  • Master oil, air, and fuel filtration procedures, grease points and capacities, and employ advanced inspection techniques to proactively detect abnormal conditions.
  • Execute precise body repairs and painting, restoring equipment to optimal appearance and function.
  • Utilize welding and burning equipment; operate lathes, saws, shapers, grinders, and presses to fabricate and repair critical components.
  • Diagnose, service, and overhaul fuel injector pumps, nozzles, and engine governors, ensuring peak engine performance.
  • Assist in the complete overhaul and testing of both gas and diesel engines as well as various air-cooled engines.
  • Overhaul mechanisms that transfer engine power, supporting the productivity and reliability of all heavy equipment.
  • Navigate parts catalogs for procurement and handling, manage storage, and contribute to cost-effective parts strategies.
  • Overhaul starters, generators, and voltage regulators, ensuring smooth operation of electrical components.
  • Repair and overhaul a full suite of heavy equipment, including crawler and wheel tractors, cranes, front end loaders, rollers, subgrade mixers, motor graders, compactors, pumps, and air compressors — both in the shop and out in the field.
  • Perform field repairs and implement preventative maintenance practices that maximize equipment service life and uptime.
  • Utilize motion skills including climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, driving, riding, pushing, pulling, vibrating, twisting, kneeling, walking, standing, lying, rolling, reaching, and hammering.
  • Safely lift up to 50 lbs. as repairs demand.
  • Work efficiently with a wide array of tools, from wrenches and screwdrivers to pneumatic wrenches, impact tools, and measuring devices.
  • Embrace overtime and variable schedules, including exposure to hot, cold, and wet weather conditions.
  • Ride to and from job sites; operate company vehicles (must meet APAC Driver Qualification Standards); heavy truck mechanics must possess a Commercial Driver’s License and pass DOT exams per State and Federal regulations. Air brakes skills test required for vehicles with air brakes.
