SMS Equipment is growing in Prince George, BC. We're hiring Heavy Equipment Technicians, Journeyperson to support mining and construction operations in a remote field environment. If you’re a skilled troubleshooter with a safety-first mindset and the ability to work independently, we want to hear from you. This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment’s competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise). Requirements

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician
  • Strong diagnostic skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel.
  • Self-motivated and safety-focused with experience working independently in field conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Komatsu equipment is an asset.
  • Interprovincial Red Seal certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy mining and construction equipment
  • Perform overhauls, maintenance, and new equipment builds
  • Troubleshoot issues using computerized and manual diagnostic tools
  • Work independently in remote field settings, including adverse weather and confined spaces
  • Follow safety protocols and contribute to continuous improvement in safe work practices
  • Lift up to 50 lbs as required by the role
