About The Position

SMS Equipment is growing in Kamloops, BC. We're hiring a Heavy Equipment Technician, Journeyperson to support mining and construction operations in a remote field environment. If you’re a skilled troubleshooter with a safety-first mindset and the ability to work independently, we want to hear from you. This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment’s competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise). Candidates may be required to complete ticket verification, a pre-employment medical questionnaire, a drug and alcohol test, and provide a 5-year commercial drivers abstract. Requirements

Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician
Strong diagnostic skills and mechanical aptitude
Valid Class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel
Self-motivated and safety-focused with experience working independently in field conditions

Nice To Haves

Experience working with Komatsu equipment
Interprovincial Red Seal certification

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy mining and construction equipment
Perform overhauls, maintenance, and new equipment builds
Troubleshoot issues using computerized and manual diagnostic tools
Work independently in remote field settings, including adverse weather and confined spaces
Follow safety protocols and contribute to continuous improvement in safe work practices
Lift up to 50 lbs as required by the role
