About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Specialist is responsible for ensuring efficient and safe transportation of materials and equipment between Company warehouses and other locations. This position transports and delivers supplies via semi-trailer trucks or other various types of heavy equipment. This position offers a variety of work that will appeal to those that are interested in learning, problem solving, able to work within a team environment, and are willing to take initiative.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of warehouse and powered industrial truck experience
  • Experience using a personal computer
  • Certification from an accredited semi-truck driving school with a minimum of one year experience operating on public roadways. In lieu of the certification, applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years driving semi-tractors or heavy equipment operating experience.
  • Applicant is required to have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class A, B, C & D) and all applicable endorsements
  • Stores Aptitude (STRS): Ability to understand mechanic concepts; ability to visualize forms in space; ability to compare details and identify whether the same or different. Suggested Preparation: Review mechanical concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill daily orders, receive, put away, restock and disburse materials utilizing the current ERP system
  • Pre-load/stage material. Inspect trailers for correct loading procedures
  • Ensure materials are properly loaded and secured to prevent damaged and accidents
  • Assist others with trailer loading, unloading and material storage as required
  • Know and follow all DOT rules and regulations
  • Communicate with customers, Logistics Representatives and Warehouse management regarding delivery schedules, equipment and other needs
  • Recognize and report damage and/or incorrect shipment of material
  • Conducts physical inventory counts
  • Resolve problems with storage locations and labeling
  • Ensure material shelf life is regularly updated
  • Maintain records
  • Operate and inspect a variety of material handling equipment including but not limited to forklifts, cranes and CDL rated vehicles. Incorporate safe handling techniques for oversized, heavy and/or unique materials
