About The Position

The primary responsibilities of this position are to diagnose and repair heavy highway, trucks, grading, and asphalt equipment and maintenance issues. Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task. Perform repairs and overhaul of the various highway, grading and asphalt equipment, pumps, air compressors, transmissions, controls, and accessories, etc. Test equipment following repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with operating specifications. Perform repairs and preventive maintenance practices necessary to increase the service life of the equipment. Prepare required documentation including work orders and parts lists in an accurate and timely manner. Notify the Shop Foreman when problems arise. Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with heavy equipment preferred.
  • Effective communication and organization skills.
  • Diagnose and repair heavy grading and paving equipment.
  • Experienced with diesel engines, hydraulic components, and electrical systems.
  • Able to perform repairs in accordance with OSHA safety regulations.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License in good standing.
  • Mechanical aptitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Virginia State Inspection license desirable but not required.
