About The Position

The HLA Service Technician is all about producing a strong and reliable fleet to help our customers get the job done right. With safety at the forefront, we inspect, test and service electrical/hydraulic construction equipment for regular maintenance. Responsibilities include ensuring all equipment is rental-ready by cleaning, checking and properly refueling, following appropriate checklists and procedures, and referring to owner’s manuals and schematics. Maintenance tasks can include checking/gapping spark plugs, replacing air filters, greasing/lubricating bearings/joints, and replacing/tensioning belts. The role involves operating and testing equipment, determining serviceability or repair needs, and completing services or repairs to OEM specifications. The technician will possess excellent product knowledge, including features, benefits, and safe operating techniques. They will also ensure customers are treated fairly, resolve issues, and follow all paperwork and computer procedures related to servicing equipment, maintaining inventory control documents to preserve the integrity of the Rental Management computer system. Health and Safety are paramount, with all employees sharing the responsibility for safety by following Safety Commitments, PPE requirements, SOPs, and governing laws. Employees must report unsafe working conditions and ensure themselves and co-workers wear PPE and follow SOPs and policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of servicing heavy equipment or related experience.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Must possess a mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Action-oriented with attention to detail and a focus on quality and safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Heavy equipment trades certification is an asset
  • G Class (ON)/Class 5 (AB) Provincial Driver’s License and clean Drivers Abstract preferred.
  • Experience with Health and Safety training is an asset (i.e. WHMIS, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all equipment is rental-ready by cleaning, checking and properly refueling.

  • Can read and refer to the owner’s manuals and schematics.

  • Operates and tests equipment (under actual operating conditions, if possible).
  • Determines the serviceability or the need for the equipment repair.
  • Completes all services or repairs to OEM specifications.
  • Possesses excellent product knowledge, including features and benefits, and safe operating techniques.
  • Ensure every customer is treated in a fair and consistent manner and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Follows all paperwork and computer procedures related to servicing equipment.
  • Maintains all inventory control documents to preserve the integrity of the Rental Management computer system.
