Repairs and maintains various types of heavy equipment, small equipment, and winter operations equipment. This position is included in the Pittsburgh Joint Collective Bargaining Committee and will be filled in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Applicants must be City of Pittsburgh residents at the time of application and must remain a resident throughout employment. A current, valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License (or out of state equivalent) is required at the time of application and will be verified prior to appointment to the position and must be maintained throughout employment. You are required to obtain a Commercial Class A or B Motor Vehicle Operator's License with the "L" airbrake restriction lifted from the license within one (1) year from the date of hire. Applicants must provide their own set of tools. All employees hired as a titled Heavy Equipment Repair Specialist will receive an annual tool allowance of $700 towards the purchase of all specified tools by June 1 of each year. This is subject to change based on the collective bargaining agreement. The City of Pittsburgh, as a matter of policy, conducts pre-employment and promotional background investigations on all candidates being considered for positions. The background investigation includes, but is not limited to, criminal background, driver's license, and City of Pittsburgh real estate tax payments.
