About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Operator is primarily responsible for operating all types of Heavy Equipment Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to support A/DACG operations, including the transportation of HAZMAT loads. This role requires a working knowledge of container operations and container lifting systems. The operator will load and unload pallets, supplies, and equipment from various conveyances, enforce safety practices, document procedures, and comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, and workplace rules.

Requirements

Operates all types of Heavy Equipment Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
Working knowledge of container operations, including container lifting systems.
Ability to load and unload pallets, supplies, equipment from docks, trucks, K-Loaders and other conveyances.
Knowledge of safety practices.
Compliance with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, and workplace rules.
Ability to perform site surveys and risk assessments.
Ability to perform Daily Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS).
Ability to maintain equipment logs.
Ability to plan and execute the on/offloading of different type of military and commercial containers.

Nice To Haves

Experience with transportation of HAZMAT loads.

Responsibilities

Operates the forklift in support of the mission.
Performs site surveys and risk assessments to determine safe lifting capacities and a secure environment for/unloading operation.
Reports any maintenance or operational discrepancies to the Shift Lead.
Performs Daily Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) and maintains equipment logs.
Plans and executes the on/offloading of different types of military and commercial containers.
Complies with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, and Working Rules.
Loads and unloads pallets, supplies, equipment from docks, trucks, K-Loaders and other conveyances.
Enforces safety practices and documents all procedures.
