Position: Heavy Equipment Operator Location: Moose Creek Permanent position Welcome to Matrec, a division of GFL! We are a dynamic company focused on growth and security. GFL is responsible for the collection and processing of waste, recycling and organic materials. We cover North America with more than 20 000 employees. We are currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Moose Creek. Reporting to the General Manager, the Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe operation of equipment in order to perform the work required. He or she is also responsible for checking the equipment being driven and ensuring that preventive maintenance is performed on the various machines.

Requirements

  • Professional studies in heavy equipment operation or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in a similar position or in the operation of heavy machinery.
  • Demonstrate a sense of responsibility and good judgment.
  • Be autonomous, resourceful and work efficiently and safely.
  • Be punctual, efficient and have good communication skills.
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide valid documentation confirming their eligibility to work in the country where the job is located prior to their start date.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate, in accordance with the health and safety rules established by the company, a mechanical shovel and a wheel loader, better known as a loader.
  • Load customer trucks with biomass, concrete, crushed brick and other construction materials.
  • Perform mechanical inspection and complete required inspection forms.
  • Ensure that the preventive maintenance of the machines driven is done in the required time (oil change, breakage, lubrication, etc.)
  • The work must be done with good practices and good work methods in order to respect the rules of health and safety at work.
  • The work area must be kept clean.
  • All related tasks.
