About The Position

Martin Marietta is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator and Plant Maintenance professional for their Durham mine. This role primarily focuses on maintenance (80%) with a portion dedicated to equipment operation (20%). The operator will work with the night shift maintenance crew, operating mobile heavy equipment such as haul trucks, motor graders, and water trucks to transport raw materials from the pit to the plant safely and efficiently, maximizing loading capacity. The operating hours for this night shift position are 8 PM to 6 AM.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to read equipment operating manual.
• Must be able to complete pre-shift inspection report.
• Must be able to communicate in English on radio or CB.
• Possess basic mathematical aptitude to complete daily reports.
• Must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
• Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner.
• Must be able to read and interpret gauges.
• Proven ability to work in a TEAM environment.

Nice To Haves

• 1 year experience operating heavy mobile equipment.
• Maintenance, Welding, Military or Material Handling Experience
• Bi-Lingual is a plus

Responsibilities

• Operate all other mobile equipment, including haul truck, motor grader, water truck, loader and crane.
• Assist in plant repairs and clean-up.
• Perform pre-shift safety inspection on equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and service mobile equipment. Report needed repairs to shop personnel.
• Maintain good housekeeping of equipment.
• Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules and regulations.
• Perform duties with minimum supervision.
