About The Position

Saiia Construction, a MasTec company, is hiring experienced Heavy Equipment Operators in Carrollton, Georgia. This role is responsible for operating heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, graders, dump trucks, front-end loaders, compactors, scrapers, and water trucks to move materials. The operator will also participate in required training and ensure compliance with all safety rules, procedures, policies, OSHA, and MSHA regulations.

Requirements

Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, MSHA and other related state and federal regulations.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to use email, smart phone, tablet, or computer to manage company information and documents.
Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance standards per employee handbook.
Approach and complete work in a meticulous, thorough, and timely manner.
Lift/Carry 0-10 lbs.: Occasionally

Responsibilities

Operates excavator to dig holes and trenches, and to move and transport earth, gravel, and other materials.
Starts engine and controls hydraulic shovel or other attachments using hand and foot levers.
Uses bucket to dig trenches and holes of specified dimensions, and loads materials into stockpiles or transport trucks.
May utilize GPS grade technology on excavators.
Operates bulldozer or grader to gouge out, level, and distribute soil, sand, ore, rock, gravel, and industrial byproducts.
Clears trees and rocks for construction projects.
Attaches implements to bulldozer or grader using hitches.
Operates bulldozer or grader in successive passes to achieve specified grade or elevation.
May utilize GPS grade technology on bulldozers or graders.
Operates a truck equipped with a dump body to transport and dump loose materials.
Operates scraper or tractor-drawn scraper to move, haul, and grade earth on construction sites.
Controls loading gate, depth of cut, and hauling of filled pan or bowl.
Spreads or dumps earth.
Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor.
Operates a truck to transport water for construction projects, filling potable water for crews and spraying water on roadways for dust control.
Performs inspections, oil changes, greasing, servicing, and normal operating adjustments to the Water Truck.
Lifts/moves transported materials as needed.
