About The Position

McGill Compost is committed to producing high-quality compost and soil products while supporting sustainable environmental practices. We are continuously seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team as future opportunities become available. This posting is intended to build a talent pipeline of qualified candidates for upcoming openings. While there may not be an immediate vacancy, applicants who meet the qualifications may be considered for future positions. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating and maintaining equipment used in compost production and material handling operations. Equipment may include wheel loaders, excavators, skid steers, grinders, screeners, and other mobile equipment. Operators play a critical role in maintaining production efficiency, workplace safety, and product quality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment operating experience.
  • Experience operating one or more of the following: Wheel Loader, Excavator, Skid Steer, Grinder, Trommel or Screener Equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds periodically.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Composting, landscaping, agriculture, construction, or mining experience.
  • Equipment maintenance experience.
  • OSHA Safety Training.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Load, move, stockpile, and process organic materials.
  • Perform daily pre-shift equipment inspections.
  • Report mechanical issues and maintenance needs promptly.
  • Maintain accurate production and operational records as required.
  • Follow all company safety policies and environmental regulations.
  • Assist with site housekeeping and general labor tasks when needed.
  • Work effectively with supervisors and team members to meet production goals.
  • Operate equipment in varying weather and site conditions.
