About The Position

Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support a government contract based in Kings Bay, Georgia. This role involves driving gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailer combinations to transport and deliver products, equipment, or materials. The operator will also be responsible for operating various equipment such as backhoes, front-end loaders, manlifts up to 135 ft., forklifts up to 55k, and other equipment, including knowledge of loading and safely securing loads for transport. The position requires adherence to commercial driving regulations and skillful maneuvering in challenging conditions, as well as performing pre- and post-trip equipment inspections and interpreting schedules for deliveries and pick-ups.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years safe tractor-trailer driving record.
  • Must possess a valid “A” CDL and be able to obtain government driver’s license for size and type vehicles including forklifts and mechanic lifting devices.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a proficient operation of tractor-trailer.
  • Must be familiar with procedures for proper tie-down and securing of large equipment.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must have and wear hard-toed ankle-height safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-05 standards.
  • Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
  • Must wear proper PPE when loading or operating equipment when required.
  • Must have ability to drive manual and automatic transmission vehicles and equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

Responsibilities

  • Drives gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailer combination to transport and deliver products, equipment, or materials.
  • Operate equipment such as backhoes, front-end loaders, manlifts up to 135 ft., forklifts up to 55k, and other various equipment with knowledge of how to load on a trailer and safely tie down for transport.
  • Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicles in difficult situations such as in narrow passageways and hauling oversize loads.
  • Inspects equipment for visible defects before and after trips.
  • Interpret schedules for deliveries and pick-ups.
