About The Position

Harbour Construction is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators for its civil construction team. This is presented as a long-term opportunity, not seasonal work, for operators who take pride in their work and want to contribute to building infrastructure across Nova Scotia. The role involves various aspects of civil construction including excavation, underground utilities, grading, roadwork, site development, and heavy civil projects. Operators will collaborate with foremen, labourers, mechanics, and project teams to ensure safe and efficient project execution.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in civil construction
• Experience with excavation, trenching, grading, and site work
• Strong understanding of safe equipment operation and job site awareness
• Valid driver’s license required
• Reliable, accountable, and able to work well as part of a crew
• Comfortable working in fast-paced civil construction environments

Nice To Haves

• Heavy Equipment Operator certification or equivalent training is considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Operating excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, backhoes, and other heavy equipment on civil construction sites
• Excavation, trenching, grading, material movement, and site preparation
• Working safely around utilities, structures, ground personnel, and active job sites
• Performing daily equipment inspections and reporting maintenance concerns
• Supporting crews with general site operations as needed
• Following project specifications, site safety procedures, and company standards
• Working outdoors year-round in changing site and weather conditions
