About The Position

McGill Environmental Systems is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator for our New Hill, NC facility. This role is crucial in transforming organic waste into high-quality compost, mulch, and soil products that support healthier communities and a cleaner environment. The operator will safely operate heavy equipment to move, process, blend, screen, and transport organic materials while maintaining production, quality, and safety standards. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in operating equipment efficiently and contributing to a productive team environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience operating wheel loaders, front-end loaders, skid steers, excavators, telehandlers, backhoes, or similar heavy equipment
  • Experience in composting, recycling, construction, landscaping, agriculture, manufacturing, mining, or industrial environments preferred
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced production environment
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to work around dust, dirt, mud, noise, odors, and moving equipment
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Morrisville facility
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work on uneven terrain
  • Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including respiratory protection when required

Responsibilities

  • Operate Front-End Loaders, Small Excavators, Skid Steers, Telehandlers, Backhoes, Grinders, Screeners, and other heavy equipment
  • Load trucks and transport materials throughout the facility
  • Perform blending and material processing operations
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and safety checks
  • Identify and report maintenance needs or equipment issues
  • Support production goals while maintaining quality standards
  • Follow all company safety procedures, environmental regulations, and PPE requirements
  • Participate in safety meetings and training programs
  • Maintain a safe, productive, and efficient work environment
  • Complete other duties as assigned
