About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Operator safely operates a variety of material transfer equipment and trucks used in transportation, dock and yard maneuvers, and performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks. Work includes operation of a stationary tower crane to lift, move, position, and reposition large heavy objects/loads.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required
One year of forklift experience
Bilingual English & Spanish

Nice To Haves

CDL License
6 months’ DOT and FHA regulations including hazardous materials regulations
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to report to work on time for designated shifts.
Basic Microsoft Office and email skills; ability to efficiently process required documentation.

Responsibilities

Operate crane under general supervision: manipulate or depress crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
Operate a heavy-duty forklift/hyster from 3,500 lbs – 30,000 lbs with different attachments such as clamp and slip sheet to transfer loads and reposition on to trailing equipment
Lift and position equipment or other large objects to and from platform/specialized equipment.
Place blocks and outriggers to prevent capsizing when lifting heavy loads.
Safely transfer empty and loaded trailers with a yard hostler or a truck tractor in sequence that is the most safe and efficient.
Inspect crane and forklift for safety or maintenance issues daily.
Prepare service quality summaries and all other necessary paperwork.
