About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Operator / Material Handler is responsible for safely operating forklifts and other equipment to unload, move, stage, and load materials within the warehouse and yard. This role supports production efficiency by handling materials for fabrication, finishing, and shipping, while maintaining compliance with company safety standards and housekeeping policies.

Requirements

  • Safely operate forklifts and other equipment to unload, move, stage, and load materials within the warehouse and yard.
  • Handle materials for fabrication, finishing, and shipping.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety standards and housekeeping policies.
  • Verify received items against packing slips for accuracy and quality.
  • Stage materials for fabrication teams in accordance with production procedures.
  • Move fabricated units to finishing areas and transfer finished units to designated yard areas.
  • Load completed units onto trucks for customer shipments or transfers to other locations.
  • Perform washing/touch-up as needed.
  • Inspect trucks, forklifts, and related equipment daily using pre-shift checklists.
  • Remove pallets and packing materials from production areas and dispose of them properly.
  • Adhere to housekeeping policies to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate closely with production personnel to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Monitor work areas for potential safety hazards and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk and/or hear.
  • Walk, climb or balance.
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects/equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently lift and/or move objects/equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move objects/equipment up to 10 pounds.
  • Bend a non-specific number of times per hour and twist their bodies from side to side.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities
