About The Position

This position will operate heavy equipment such as 10 to 25 ton dump trucks, dozers, motor graders, front-in loaders, vibratory compactors, scrapers, forestry mowers (FECON), track hoes, agricultural tractors, and back hoes, semi-trucks and trailers for the purpose of completing LRAM projects. Primary functions are soil stabilization and vegetation management at Fort Knox, KY. Essential Job Duties include executing day-to-day heavy equipment operation tasks to complete LRAM projects, conducting activities to execute repair, maintenance, and reconfiguration projects in support of Army training missions, performing operational maintenance and inspections on equipment, and tracking projects for monthly/quarterly reports. The role also involves fulfilling other duties and assignments as necessary to fulfill the mission and sub-missions of the ITAM program and DPTMS as approved by the Installation Point of Contact.

Requirements

  • 2 years professional experience
  • High school Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or equivalent
  • Experience with running and maintaining heavy equipment
  • Must possess a Valid CDL Type A license or acquire one by position start date
  • Must be able to comply with all applicable regulations to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) and public trust clearance
  • Candidates are required at a minimum to complete a NACI/SF85 and successfully pass a federal background check
  • Physically able to work outdoors and perform strenuous labor under all weather conditions (e.g., heat and humidity)
  • Able to lift 40 pounds repeatedly
  • Must possess a valid drivers license
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States by proposed start date

Nice To Haves

  • Experience to facilitating soil stabilization, land clearing, site preparation, and work site revegetation
  • Experience in land rehabilitation and horizontal construction, including erosion control practices aligned with State and/or EPA‑approved Best Management Practices (BMPs) required for compliance with the Clean Water Act (CWA)
  • Experience operating heavy equipment, including 10–25 ton dump trucks, dozers, motor graders, front‑end loaders, forestry mowers (FECON), agricultural tractors, and backhoes

Responsibilities

  • Execute Day to Day Heavy Equipment Operation Tasks to complete LRAM projects
  • Conduct activities to execute repair, maintenance, and reconfiguration projects in support of Army training missions
  • Perform operational maintenance and inspections on equipment for operational readiness and safety and make minor adjustment and perform operator maintenance on equipment operated
  • Track project for monthly/quarterly reports
  • Fulfill other duties and assignments as necessary to fulfill the mission and sub-missions of the ITAM program and DPTMS as approved by the Installation Point of Contact
