We are looking for a Landfill Equipment Operator who is dependable, safety-conscious, and ready to help us manage our most critical infrastructure. Requirements

  • Proven ability to steer, guide, and drive heavy equipment using steering wheels, shifters, levers, and pedals.
  • Forklift certification is required.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment gauges, perform basic math, and follow instructions with limited supervision.
  • Willingness to obtain a Landfill Operations Certification—we’ll provide the path to get you there!
  • Comfortable working 100% outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Can lift/push/pull up to 25 lbs regularly and 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to read, speak, and write in English to ensure site safety and clear communication.
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide valid documentation confirming their eligibility to work in the country where the job is located prior to their start date.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment—including compactors, dozers, scrapers, and loaders—to spread, compact, and cover waste according to site plans.
  • Perform daily inspections, grease/lubricate equipment, and manage fluid levels to keep our fleet in top shape.
  • Clean trash and debris from tracks and gear mechanisms daily.
  • Assist in maintaining the grounds and facility appearance to GFL’s high standards.
  • Use a two-way radio to stay in sync with the scale house and field crew.
  • Attend regular safety meetings to ensure everyone on Team Green goes home safe.
  • Be ready to substitute for other operators or jump in on special projects as needed/required by management.
