Description The Heavy Equipment Operator operates various heavy equipment including but not limited to; excavators of all types, bulldozers, front end loaders. The Heavy Equipment Operator will be part of a team working together toward completion of projects and tasks.

Requirements

  • Passionate about Bogus Basin’s Mission.
  • 3 years of heavy equipment operation experience preferred.
  • Possess working knowledge and skill regarding the operation of various pieces of earthmoving equipment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety and operating best methods for construction heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and a variety of hours.
  • This position must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds occasionally as well as occasionally lift up to 35 pounds above shoulder level.
  • Frequently required to stand, balance, walk, climb, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or fell objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and to hear.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience riding mountain bikes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate assigned pieces of heavy equipment.
  • Perform tasks with an emphasis on quality and safety.
  • Complete assigned projects and tasks according to instructions from supervisor.
  • Work together as a team to complete tasks and projects.
  • Communicate job progress and questions/issues to supervisor and co-workers on a timely basis.
  • Perform daily maintenance requirements on equipment and promptly report all equipment issues to supervisor.
  • Work with mechanics for repairs and maintenance issues.
  • Fuel and perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment.
  • Follow procedures recommended for operating equipment and service schedules.
  • Promote safety by following safe practices and reporting any unsafe conditions.
  • Utilize safety restraints and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a professional attitude toward guests and staff.
  • Assist in mountain rescue efforts, if necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
