About The Position

This position operates assigned heavy equipment. Essential Job Functions include coordinating, assigning, and reviewing work, establishing work schedules, maintaining standards, monitoring work in progress, inspecting completed work, answering questions, and giving advice and direction. The role involves operating and maintaining various heavy motorized equipment, including roll-off vehicles, automated refuse trucks, boom trucks, box trucks, vacuum trucks, street sweepers, dump trucks, and a centrifuge system for dewatering sludge. Responsibilities also include cleaning the centrifuge, loading sludge into dump trucks, transporting sludge to the landfill, and maintaining dump trucks and polymer pumps. The operator will assist in equipment maintenance, clean ditches, canals, and catch basins, complete route sheets and daily reports, and maintain paperwork. Additional duties include collecting recyclables, inspecting equipment for hazards and necessary repairs, laying out and installing new drainage ditches and Storm Water structures, responding to customer inquiries, and performing minor equipment repairs. The role also involves sanding, painting, and sanitizing refuse containers, and transporting heavy equipment to job sites. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years of heavy equipment operation and maintenance experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state commercial driver's license.
• Background investigation, including a supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen, and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.

• Completes route sheets and daily reports.
• Completes work orders; maintains required paperwork.
• Collects acceptable recyclables.
• Inspects equipment before use to ensure necessary repairs are made.
• Inspects job sites for possible hazards.
• Lays out and installs new drainage ditches; places new Storm Water structures.
• Responds to customer inquiries and refers customer complaints to supervisor.
• Ensures proper equipment maintenance; performs minor repairs as necessary.
• Sands and paints refuse containers.
• Sanitizes refuse containers.
• Transports heavy equipment to job sites.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
