About The Position

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator - Loader to join their team. This is a full-time position primarily based out of their Gainesville, GA asphalt plant, with the expectation that the candidate must be willing and able to work night shifts as needed and float between their Gainesville and Cumming, GA plant locations based on operational requirements. The position reports to the Plant Manager. While this role has a designated home plant, employees may be assigned to support other company asphalt plants within the Greater Atlanta area on an as-needed basis, depending on operational demands. This position requires flexibility in scheduling. Work schedules may include day or night shifts, long hours, and weekend work (including Saturdays and Sundays) as business needs require. Employees must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to assigned work locations when needed. This position requires prior experience operating heavy equipment in environments such as construction sites, quarries, asphalt plants, or aggregate yards.

Requirements

Prior experience operating heavy equipment in environments such as construction sites, quarries, asphalt plants, or aggregate yards.
Willingness to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA and company policy.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Manual dexterity and strength in arms and feet to manipulate equipment controls, tools, and other items used to make adjustments and/or minor maintenance.
Use hands, arms, back, and shoulders to handle, install, position, move items, and manipulate other objects.
Ability to be in a standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting position for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently operate a front-end loader to move and load materials for asphalt production and aggregate operations in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.
Operate a front-end loader safely and efficiently to move materials such as aggregate, sand, and recycled asphalt within the plant yard or job site.
Work safely around haul trucks, stockpiles, moving equipment, and uneven terrain.
Conduct pre-operation inspections, report mechanical issues, and follow all safety protocols and site procedures.
Inspect and perform basic maintenance on the loader to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.
Assist with plant operations as needed, including material handling and cleanup.
Communicate effectively with plant personnel to coordinate material flow and maintain productions schedules.
Follow directions.
