About The Position

Parsons is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator III to operate heavy and light equipment for repairing, maintaining, and reconfiguring roadways, stockpiles, and berms, including loading and unloading rock and soil at the Faro Mine Complex. This role involves working shifts of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off, with 12 hours per shift. The company provides paid travel to and from the site as well as housing accommodations, but employees are responsible for their own food/meals. This position is part of the Critical Infrastructure team and the Faro Mines project, which is a unionized worksite governed by the Faro Union Collective Bargaining Agreement, requiring union membership and dues. Requirements

  • At least 4 years’ operational experience in operating CAT and other surface mining, construction heavy equipment.
  • Class 5 license required
  • Class 1 or 3 license with air brake endorsement
  • Must have rigging, lifting, and hoisting certificate listed on resume
  • Proficiency in operating Forklift (any), Skid Steer, Bobcat, Loader, Rock Truck, Backhoe, Excavator and Dozer.
  • Must be able to effectively follow and give directions.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the role including but not limited to: sit or stand for long periods of time, able to lift up to 20kg, comfortable working in various elemental conditions including rain, snow, heat, cold, etc.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid Mine Rescue Certificate (surface) compatible with Yukon OHS Mine Rescue Standard (OHS, 2016) and approved by Yukon WCB, or willingness and ability to undergo training to obtain such.
  • Crane/ HIAB license

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy equipment, including Forklift (any), Skid Steer, Bobcat, Loader, Rock Truck, Backhoe, Excavator and Dozer.
  • Receive hands-on training in the safe and efficient operation of Graders.
  • Perform haulage of vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Utilize your skills in rigging, lifting, and hoisting to safely maneuver and position heavy loads.
  • Drive and operate equipment ranging from 3 to 10 tons, including vacuum and water trucks.
  • Work closely with the Water Treatment group in assisting with the placement of pumps, pipelines and other associated water conveyance equipment around site while promoting and complying with FMC safety procedures and policies.
  • Ensure safe work operations and full compliance to operating procedures.
  • Receive direction for the day-to-day operations work schedule.
  • Do pre-& post inspections of the equipment and write/keep equipment log.
  • Responsible for and/or assists in fueling and filling all the fluids in the equipment to the right level.
  • Provide snow clearing services during the winter months.
  • Assists in maintenance work of the equipment.
  • Maintain tidiness in the equipment.
  • Prepare and submit the necessary required daily reports as directed.
  • Perform other functions as directed from time to time by the Maintenance Superintendent.
