About The Position

NACG is seeking Scraper Truck Operators to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This is an opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region. NACG offers a combined rate of up to $52.29/hour as well as room for growth. The work site is Fort Hills, with a schedule of 14 days on and 7 days off, working 12-hour days (paid for 12 hours). This rotation includes 14 days on, 7 off, followed by 14 nights on, 7 off. Camp accommodations are provided. Flights are provided to and from Edmonton or Calgary, and bussing is provided from Fort McMurray to the site before and after shifts. Overtime is provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week. Successful candidates will become members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working on 777, 785, 793 Haul Trucks with Scraper
  • Minimum one year experience in mining atmosphere.
  • Potential to run rigid frame tricks as required
  • A safety-first attitude
  • Attentive and possess strong listening skills
  • Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • CSO Certification
  • Silica Awareness
  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness
  • Hydroden Sulphide
  • OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness
  • Field Ergonomics

Nice To Haves

  • Road maintenance experience is a plus.
  • High school diploma, GED, and/or post-secondary education is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate 777, 785, 793 Rigid Trucks with Scraper in a mining or heavy construction earthworks environment (model types can include but are not limited to Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, and Volvo)
  • Complete pre-use equipment inspections to ensure equipment is in safe operating condition
  • Complete field level risk/hazard assessments prior to tasks and as tasks change.
  • Participate in the safe fueling and servicing of equipment
  • Interact with loading and dumping equipment
  • Follow mine driving rules
  • Interact with other contractor and client equipment
  • Ensure compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies, operating standards, and procedures
  • Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including all required PPE
  • Reviewing safe work plans/ hazard assessment with prior to job commencement and follow all requirements
  • Report any necessary repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors
  • Report all incidents, near misses or damage immediately
