About The Position

NACG is seeking FINISH DOZER OPERATORS to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This is an opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region. NACG offers a BASE RATE of $44.24/hour as well as holiday (4%) and vacation (6%) pay paid out each cheque. The role involves working at multiple sites (Kearl and Fort Hills) with a 12-hour day and night schedule. Camp accommodation and transportation from Edmonton, Calgary, or Fort McMurray are provided. Overtime is site-dependent, with Fort Hills offering OT and Kearl having a 10% rate uplift instead of OT. Successful candidates will become members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating dozer
  • Minimum one year experience in a mining atmosphere preferred
  • Willing and able to work in soft ground conditions (Muskeg) and rip frost above shovels
  • Must be able to follow instructions to ensure safe equipment operation
  • Must be proficient in English, both verbal and written
  • Must be well-organized and favor safety above everything else
  • Ability to complete required fitness-to-work testing requirements
  • CSO OR BSO Certification, Silica Awareness, Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness, H2S Awareness, Field Ergonomics, OHS Alberta (Fort Hills)
  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness, CSO OR BSO Certification (Kearl)
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with acceptable drivers abstract (pulled within 30 days)
  • High school diploma, GED, and/or post-secondary education is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Operate various sizes and models of Dozers required to complete assigned work
  • Read stakes and be able to place a grade as needed
  • Ensure compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies, operating standards and procedures
  • Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE
  • Reviewing safe work plans/ hazard assessment with prior to job commencement and follow all requirements
  • Complete equipment/ area walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments and ensure all equipment is running properly
  • Report any necessary or anticipated repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors immediately
  • Report all incidents, near misses or damage immediately
