About The Position

Underwood & Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Machine Operator / Field Technician to support the construction of ecological restoration and stormwater management projects throughout Maryland and the surrounding region. This is a full-time, year-round, hourly non-exempt position with opportunities for overtime. Our work includes stream restoration, living shorelines, regenerative stormwater conveyance systems, wetland restoration, and other nature-based infrastructure projects. We are looking for a motivated individual who takes pride in quality work and can operate equipment safely and efficiently in challenging field conditions.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience operating tracked skid steers
Demonstrated experience operating large excavators
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions
Ability to lift and carry materials associated with field construction work (50lbs average)
Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

Experience working on restoration, utility, grading, landscaping, erosion control, or heavy civil construction projects
CDL
Spanish fluency

Responsibilities

Safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment
Fine grading and material placement
Working around wetlands, streams, shorelines, and sensitive environmental features
Assisting with layout, erosion and sediment control installation, planting, and other Field Technician tasks (shoveling, raking, etc.) on a regular basis
Equipment inspection, cleaning, and basic maintenance
Supporting crew members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification
