About The Position

NACG is seeking EXCAVATOR OPERATORS to join their remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This is an opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region. NACG offers a combined rate of up to $58.16/hour and room for growth. The role is based at the Kearl site with a schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off, working 12-hour days and nights. Camp accommodation and transportation (flights from Edmonton or Calgary, bussing from Fort McMurray) are provided. The company works with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955, and successful candidates will become union members.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience operating excavators (870 or larger)
  • Must be able to excavate ditch slope and grade
  • Must be able to follow instructions to ensure safe equipment operation
  • A safety-first attitude
  • Attentive and possess strong listening skills
  • Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one year experience in a mining atmosphere preferred
  • Familiar and comfortable working in a production environment
  • High school diploma, GED, and/or post-secondary education is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various sizes and models of excavators as required to complete assigned work
  • Read stakes and be able to place a grade as needed
  • Ensure compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies, operating standards and procedures
  • Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE
  • Reviewing safe work plans/ hazard assessment with prior to job commencement and follow all requirements
  • Complete equipment/ area walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments and ensure all equipment is running properly
  • Report any necessary or anticipated repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors immediately
  • Report all incidents, near misses or damage immediately
