About The Position

NACG is seeking DOZER OPERATORS to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This is an opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region. For this role, NACG offers a combined rate of up to $55.42/hour as well as room for growth. The work schedule is 14 days on and 14 days off, with 12-hour days (paid for 11.5 hours). This includes 14 days on and 14 off for day shifts, and 14 nights on and 14 off for night shifts. Camp accommodation is provided, and flights are provided to and from Edmonton or Calgary. Bussing is provided from Fort McMurray to site. This position is part of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating D9 - D11 sized Dozer
  • Minimum 1 year working with mining shovels
  • Previous experience operating with muskeg / soft ground required
  • Must be able to follow instructions to ensure safe equipment operation
  • A safety-first attitude
  • Attentive and possess strong listening skills
  • Must be proficient in English, both verbal and written
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one year experience in a mining atmosphere preferred
  • High school diploma, GED, and/or post-secondary education is considered an asset
  • Valid CSO Certification
  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness or Energy Safety Canada Wildlife Awareness (including Bear Awareness) (Kearl Only)

Responsibilities

  • Operate D9 - D11 Dozer and various sizes and models of Dozers required to complete assigned work
  • Provide support to shovels at the site as requested
  • Read stakes and place a grade as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all company, client, and legislated safety policies, operating standards, and procedures
  • Use adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE
  • Review safe work plans/hazard assessments prior to job commencement and follow all requirements
  • Complete equipment/area walk-arounds, safety checks, and field-level risk assessments
  • Ensure all equipment is running properly
  • Report any necessary or anticipated repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors immediately
  • Report all incidents, near misses, or damage immediately
