About The Position

Technica LLC is seeking to recruit a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for a full-time, temporary position on a Government contract. The place of performance is Fort Bliss, TX, with an anticipated end date of October 3, 2026. This role involves working on a wide range of civilian and U.S. military vehicles and associated systems, both indoors and outdoors. Responsibilities include inspecting, troubleshooting, servicing, repairing, replacing, adjusting, and testing various vehicle components and systems. The mechanic will perform scheduled maintenance, diagnose complex wiring systems, hydraulics, transmissions, engines, and air/hydraulic brakes. The position requires applying advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and utilizing hand tools, diagnostic tools, and computer systems. The role also includes operating material handling equipment and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of maintenance programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background checks related to the position.
  • Valid state-issued driver license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a US Citizen or US permanent resident for more than 3 years.
  • Able to function with a basic level of English oral and written language skills.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, blowing sand, heavy rain, sleet and snow.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to pick up and move items within a 49 lbs. restriction with a frequent or constant lifting of 40 lbs.
  • Able to climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment.
  • Capable of climbing and working on equipment at 10 feet above ground limit.
  • Capable of using and understanding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Able to work past normal hours as mission dictates.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior military experience in Military Occupational Skill (MOS) 63B, 63S, 63D or similar.
  • Defense contracting experience inspecting and ordering repair parts for military vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a wide range of civilian vehicles such as light and heavy trucks, forklifts and U.S. military vehicles, their associated trailers and MHE systems including JLTVs, HMMWVs, PLSs, LMTVs, MTVs, HMEE-I, 120M Motor Graders, D7RII MCAs, and RTCH.
  • Use applicable references and Army Technical Manuals for inspecting, troubleshooting, servicing, repairing, replacing, adjusting, and testing vehicles, MHE systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Service power plant/packs, compression ignition engines and engine fuel systems, air induction and exhaust systems, and cooling systems.
  • Repair vehicle chassis and powertrain components including frame cross members, clutches assemblies, transmissions, transfers, final drives, propeller shaft assemblies, brake systems, steering systems, suspensions systems, fifth wheel assemblies, wheeled vehicle crane, hoist and winch assemblies, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance checks and adjustments on fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches.
  • Service speed tandem drive axles with air or electric shift, hydrostatic driven, heavy duty multi-axle suspensions, both conventional steel or air springs.
  • Change filters and oil and lubricate vehicles and motor driven equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair very complex wiring systems, hydraulics, transmissions, engines, air and hydraulic brakes systems.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers manuals or similar documents.
  • Utilize hand tools, diagnostic tools, and complex computer systems for advanced diagnostics.
  • Operate materiel handling equipment (MHE).
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Assistant Supervisor or Lead.
