About The Position

Technica LLC is seeking to recruit a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for a full-time, temporary position on a Government contract. The place of performance is Fort Bliss, TX, with an anticipated period of performance ending October 3, 2026. This role involves working on a wide range of civilian and U.S. military vehicles and their associated systems, both indoors and outdoors. The mechanic will utilize technical manuals and diagnostic tools to inspect, troubleshoot, service, repair, and test various vehicle components and systems. This includes complex electrical and hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, and powertrains. The position requires advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and the ability to operate materiel handling equipment.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of maintenance programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background checks.
  • Valid state-issued driver license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a US Citizen or US permanent resident for more than 3 years.
  • Able to function with a basic level of English oral and written language skills.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions including intense heat, heavy wind, blowing sand, heavy rain, sleet, and snow.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to pick up and move items within a 49 lbs. restriction with a frequent or constant lifting of 40 lbs.
  • Able to climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment.
  • Capable of climbing and working on equipment at 10 feet above ground limit.
  • Capable of using and understanding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Able to work past normal hours as mission dictates.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks related to the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior military experience in Military Occupational Skill (MOS) 63B, 63S, 63D.
  • Defense contracting experience inspecting and ordering repair parts for military vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, service, repair, replace, adjust, and test vehicles, MHE systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Work on power plant/packs, compression ignition engines and engine fuel systems, air induction and exhaust systems, and cooling systems.
  • Service vehicle chassis and powertrain components including frame cross members, clutch assemblies, transmissions, transfers, final drives, propeller shaft assemblies, brake systems, steering systems, suspension systems, fifth wheel assemblies, wheeled vehicle crane, hoist and winch assemblies, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance checks and adjustments on fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches.
  • Service tandem drive axles with air or electric shift, hydrostatic driven, heavy duty multi-axle suspensions, both conventional steel or air springs.
  • Change filters, oil, and lubricate vehicles and motor-driven equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair very complex wiring systems, hydraulics, transmissions, engines, and air and hydraulic brake systems.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems.
  • Utilize hand tools, diagnostic tools, and complex computer systems.
  • Operate materiel handling equipment (MHE).
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the assistant supervisor or lead.
