About The Position

The purpose of a heavy equipment mechanic is to inspect, maintain, and repair various types of large machinery used in construction. This includes diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance and repairs, and ensuring that equipment is safe and in optimal working condition. The heavy equipment mechanic plays a crucial role in keeping these machines running efficiently and effectively, ensuring that projects and operations can be completed on time and without interruptions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of diesel and hydraulic systems, as well as experience with welding and electrical systems. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Must have experience working with heavy machinery- Caterpillar, Mack Trucks, Chevrolet and Ford Trucks

Requirements

  • Must have experience working with heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment issues.
  • Familiarity with computer diagnostic software.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Physical strength and stamina.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with welding and electrical systems.
  • Experience working with heavy machinery- Caterpillar, Mack Trucks, Chevrolet and Ford Trucks

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment, such as bulldozers, excavators, skid steers, asphalt pavers, off-road trucks, etc.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems.
  • Repair and replace damaged or malfunctioning parts.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
  • Perform inspections to ensure equipment meets safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and equipment operators.
  • Stay updated on new technology and advancements in heavy equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent.
