About The Position

Arcosa Aggregates is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for their Newberry, FL plant. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and managing workflow efficiency. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, resolving mechanical issues, and fostering a safe and productive work environment through effective communication and adherence to company policies. Candidates must possess extensive knowledge of heavy equipment, including engine, component, and truck repair, with specific experience in CAT equipment. The position requires the ability to diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble, and service equipment, maintain a clean work area, and care for shop tools. Adherence to all safety rules and regulations, including MSHA, is paramount. The mechanic will also be responsible for documenting machine information and completed repairs, troubleshooting equipment issues, and communicating effectively with management and drivers, potentially functioning as a team leader. Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills to be able to keep up with multiple projects at a time and know where they always stand
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of heavy equipment and repair
  • Ability to read service/repair manuals, and work orders
  • Computer skills
  • Prompt, regular, and predictable attendance
  • Positive, Team-based attitude
  • The ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks up to 60 feet as required
  • The ability to work in varied outdoor environments (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy)
  • Must be able to meet all MSHA safety requirements and adhere to company safety policies
  • Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time
  • Grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, or pull, push, as well as bend and lift-up to 80 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience working on heavy mobile equipment in a mining environment

  • Perform all duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner
  • Maintain all maintenance and repairs needed and keep accurate records
  • Maintain consistent flow of work in a timely manner
  • Ensure quality, compliance and safety of company’s assets and personnel
  • Capable of resolving issues as they arise
  • Oversee documentation of machine information and repairs completed including parts and fluids
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Be able to communicate with management, drivers and to function as a team leader
  • Actively promote safety awareness and continuous improvement through positive recognition
  • Comply with all industry safety rules, procedures and applicable government regulations
  • Maintain strong communications with other plant employees and operator
  • Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned
