About The Position

Caldwell Stone, a surface limestone mine/quarry located in Danville, KY, is seeking a day shift Heavy Equipment Mechanic. This role is responsible for performing repairs, routine maintenance, and inspections on a wide variety of mining and quarry equipment and fixed plant equipment. The applicant must have a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair a wide range of service issues affecting major components such as engines, brake systems, transmissions, torque converters, hydraulic systems, drive train components, heating/cooling and electrical systems, as well as other systems generally encountered in the industry.

Requirements

  • Uncompromising commitment to safety excellence.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brake systems, drivetrains, transmissions, torque converters, and cooling systems.
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment parts identification, parts catalogs, and inventory management.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment for testing, troubleshooting, and repair purposes.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to operate a company vehicle on public roadways and job sites.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload with limited supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 20 feet.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around moving equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy equipment, trucks, and fixed plant equipment.
  • Complete preventive maintenance services and routine scheduled maintenance.
  • Perform major component repairs and rebuilds as needed.
  • Inspect equipment and identify mechanical deficiencies, safety concerns, and maintenance needs.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance records, and inspection documentation accurately and timely.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and field repairs as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and perform housekeeping duties.
  • Assist with maintenance planning and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
