About The Position

We are currently seeking interest in skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanics to join our team at projects in USA in the Mountain West area. Successful candidates will play a critical role in maintaining various makes and models of surface mining equipment across various sites.

Requirements

• 5 years minimum experience in repairing diesel heavy mining equipment
• 2-year minimum exposure to mining equipment
• Experience with major component replacement, overhauls, machine rebuilds, in pit breakdowns
• Knowledge of repairs and servicing of Cat Graders, Cat Dozers, Hitachi EX5600 Excavators, PV271-D, PV271-E, PV271RCS-D, PV271RCS-E, P&H 4100A, P&H 2800XPA, P&H 2300XPA, Hitachi EX5600 Shovel/Excavator, Trucks 240T
• Mobile equipment diagnostics
• Welding experience with mobile, heavy mining equipment
• Good oral and written communication skills
• High level of attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills
• Ability and willingness to work different schedule on site based on project needs
• Ability to work with other project employees to meet the project's safety, environment, and production targets
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment
• Familiarity with mine site safety protocols, procedures, and environmental regulations
• Valid driver's license at time of hire, maintained throughout employment with Thiess
• Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess is required
• Must be fluent in the English language

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience working in adverse and remote environments (extreme weather, difficult terrain) is an asset
• Industry and trade specific training a bonus but not essential

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical, hydraulic and mechanical repairs
• Preventative maintenance, in-shop and in the mine/pit
• Complete major component change outs
• Diagnose and troubleshoot
• As needed; weld steel components with welding equipment as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, and/or verbal instructions
• Comply with all safety, health and environmental rules and procedures
• While meeting safety standards, work with your team to maximize productivity and minimize downtime
• Observe and follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing PPE
• Manage timecards effectively
• Perform other duties as assigned
