About The Position

Analyzes malfunctions, operates, repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment, such as cranes; power shovels; scrapers; paving machines; motor graders; trench-digging machines; conveyors; bulldozers; dredges; heavy (trucks, buses, etc.), and light (sedans, minivans, etc.) vehicles; pumps; compressors; and pneumatic tools.

Requirements

  • Associates degree and 3 years of experience, or 5 years’ equivalent experience without a degree.
  • Individuals must be able to pass background investigation and be granted access/clearance to Marshall Space Flight Center; and will also be required to undergo and pass a drug test.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must also be able to satisfy federal government requirement for access to government information; having dual citizenship may preclude applicant from being able to meet this requirement.
  • Must possess a valid REAL ID state driver’s license and a valid CDL.
  • This position requires an employee to drive a company vehicle.

  • Employees in this position must possess mobility to work in a motor pool setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; requires walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
  • Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds for short distances, stoop, bend, kneel, walk and sit
  • Must be able to work under deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot heavy equipment problems and perform the necessary corrective tasks.
  • Make repairs and secure the necessary parts for maintenance work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Change oil and other lubricants. Replace parts and complete other preventative maintenance work as necessary in accordance with established preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Complete and release work orders on all finished assignments. Record work performed and parts used on work order using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Perform general housekeeping in work area. Take necessary precautions to ensure equipment appearance is protected from oil, tools, and scratches while undergoing repairs.
  • Observe and comply with all security, safety, and other regulations issued by the company, MSFC, or other authorities.
  • Interface with customer in a courteous manner.
  • Interface with company supervisory personnel on a regular basis and respond accordingly.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
