The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for performing routine maintenance, service, and repairs on company equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role requires diagnosing mechanical issues, maintaining service records, and working in both shop and field environments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or in a related role.
  • Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
  • Proficiency in reading schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Maintain accurate service logs and maintenance records.
  • Develop and follow preventative maintenance routines to reduce breakdowns.
  • Work in both shop and field environments to support job site needs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, disposing of used parts and materials properly.
  • Ensure all tools, parts, and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
  • Follow all safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and insurability for operating company trucks.
  • Demonstrate a safety-first approach in all tasks.
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, teammates, contractors, clients, and vendors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet company needs.
  • Work day or night shifts, including weekends, as required.
