About The Position
Carolina Metal Recyclers (CMR) is hiring a physically active, hands-on Heavy Equipment Operator to work in a fast-paced, outdoor scrap yard environment. If you’re experienced with heavy machinery and thrive in rough, industrial settings—this job is for you. You’ll operate a variety of equipment including front-end loaders, forklifts, and skid steers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with heavy equipment preferred
- Proven ability to operate front-end loaders, forklifts, and skid steers
- Comfortable with physically demanding work and outdoor conditions (heat, cold, dust, noise)
- Reliable, safety-minded, and a true team player
Responsibilities
- Operate a large front-end loader to load scrap metal into trucks, railcars, and hoppers
- Experience with scale on bucket of loader is a plus
- Perform daily equipment checks, basic maintenance, and routine greasing/cleaning
- Communicate clearly with team members over two-way radio
- Work safely and effectively in a rugged, outdoor industrial environment
