About The Position

MEI Rigging & Crating, a large provider of rigging, machinery moving, millwrighting, mechanical installation, industrial storage, crating, and export packing services, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Fleet Mechanic. This role is responsible for the maintenance of MEI's fleet of Ford and Dodge service trucks (gas and diesel), forklifts, Peterbilt and KW tractors, and Landoll/KS RGN flatbed trailers.

Requirements

Minimum ten (10) years proven fleet mechanic experience

Rigging experience

Responsibilities

Perform mid-level mechanic work on gas and diesel vehicles, including routine PM service, brake service, and hydraulic systems.
Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to determine vehicle condition and identify worn or damaged parts.
Maintain equipment availability by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component upgrades, controlling corrosion, and completing winterization procedures.
Repair vehicle deficiencies by removing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing components, parts, or systems, including hydraulics.
Perform machine shop operations, adjustments, and alignments.
Verify vehicle performance through test drives and system adjustments.
Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
Ensure shop equipment is operational by following instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventive maintenance.
Manage costs by utilizing warranties and evaluating service and parts options.
Maintain inventory of stock, place orders, and verify receipts for supplies.
Enhance the maintenance department's reputation by taking ownership of new requests and seeking opportunities to add value.
