Requirements

  • Minimum ten (10) years proven fleet mechanic experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide maintenance for MEI fleet of Ford and Dodge service trucks (both gas and diesel 250 thru 450), forklifts (6k lb. to Versa Lift 60/80k) Peterbilt and KW tractors and Landoll/KS RGN flatbed trailers.
  • Perform mid-level mechanic work on gas and diesel vehicles, including routine PM service, brake service, and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to determine vehicle condition and identify worn or damaged parts.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, install component and part upgrades, control corrosion, and complete winterization procedures to keep equipment available for use.
  • Repair vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing assemblies, components, parts, or systems, including hydraulics.
  • Complete machine shop operations, and make adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
  • Verify vehicle performance through test drives and by adjusting controls and systems.
  • Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for extensive and complex repairs.
  • Control costs by utilizing warranty and evaluating service and parts options.
  • Manage supplies by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Enhance the maintenance department and organization's reputation by taking ownership of new requests and exploring opportunities to add value.
