About The Position

EquipmentShare is hiring a Heavy Equipment District Field Technician (Mechanic) to support branches in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota. This role involves providing maintenance and repair for customer and company-owned heavy equipment machinery and aerial lifts. The technician will work on the newest fleet in the industry and contribute to building the future of construction. The position offers a Monday to Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime pay after 40 hours. The role requires significant travel (up to 90% of the work week) within the assigned district and region, and includes on-call scheduling with additional compensation. The hourly pay range is $30-$36/hr.

Requirements

  • Must own tools applicable to position.
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
  • Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must be available to travel overnight.
  • High School diploma.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years old to operate company vehicle.
  • Must be able to move, stand, stoop and bend freely.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Field Technicians may be required to be clean shaven in order to enter worksites for EquipmentShare customers who have this requirement.
  • This is a safety sensitive position and any offer of employment will be contingent on passing a 10 panel drug screen.
  • Employment is contingent on passing a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school certificate preferred.
  • Experience in field service, maintenance and repair preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex machine diagnosis and major component removal and replacement.
  • Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of customer and company-owned rental equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on a variety of equipment.
  • Assist with the pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts, including safely loading and unloading while complying with DOT regulations for height, width, and weight.
  • Attend all Safety Meetings and consistently practice safe job practices for equipment repair.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) daily.
  • Fill in at times during leadership gaps within store service areas.
  • Travel up to 90% of work week throughout assigned district and region.
  • Stay overnight for short and long periods of time.
