Heavy Equipment Field Technician (Mechanic)
About The Position
EquipmentShare is seeking a Heavy Equipment District Field Technician (Mechanic) to support branches in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota. This role involves providing maintenance and repair for customer and company-owned heavy equipment machinery and aerial lifts. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to work on the newest fleet in the industry and contribute to transforming the construction industry through innovative technology and real-time support. The position is field-based, requiring travel within the assigned district and region to support, evaluate, coach, and provide feedback to other technicians. It is a hands-on role focused on complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and major/minor repairs, requiring mastery of skills in shop and safety practices, EquipmentShare systems, and advanced technical training.
Requirements
- Must own tools applicable to position.
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
- Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
- Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
- Must be available to travel overnight.
- High School diploma, Trade school certificate preferred.
- Experience in field service, maintenance and repair preferred.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years old to operate company vehicle.
- Must be able to move, stand, stoop and bend freely.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Field Technicians may be required to be clean shaven in order to enter worksites for EquipmentShare customers who have this requirement.
- This is a safety sensitive position and any offer of employment will be contingent on passing a 10 panel drug screen.
- Employment is contingent on passing a background check.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex machine diagnosis and major component removal and replacement.
- Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of customer and company-owned rental equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on a variety of equipment.
- Assist with the pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts, including safely loading and unloading while complying with DOT regulations for height, width, and weight.
- Attend all Safety Meetings and consistently practice safe job practices for equipment repair.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) daily.
- Fill in at times during leadership gaps within store service areas.
- Drive and travel up to 90% of work week throughout assigned district and region.
- Stay overnight for short and long periods of time.
