Join CDOT's maintenance team and help keep Colorado moving. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic III, you'll inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain the trucks and specialized equipment that keep our highways safe year-round. From snowplows to bulldozers, your skills will help ensure our fleet is ready to respond whenever Colorado roads need it. Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair light- and heavy-duty trucks, snowplows, and specialized highway maintenance equipment using diagnostic tools and computerized systems. Repair and rebuild major vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulic, steering, suspension, fuel, and air systems. Perform preventative maintenance, routine inspections, DOT safety inspections, and equipment servicing to ensure fleet reliability and compliance. Operate and test a variety of heavy equipment to diagnose issues, verify repairs, and support maintenance operations. Fabricate, modify, and install equipment, components, and specialized parts to meet CDOT operational needs. Order parts and materials, prepare work orders, and accurately document repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities in SAP. Maintain a safe, organized work environment by following CDOT, DOT, and OSHA safety requirements and participating in required safety training. Stay current on new equipment, technology, repair techniques, and department procedures through ongoing training and professional development.
