As an entry-level Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician, the role involves keeping the fleet of heavy equipment operating safely and efficiently. The technician will gain hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing diesel and gas-powered equipment, learning preventative maintenance best practices, and supporting jobsite and shop operations. With training, mentorship, and exposure to a wide variety of equipment, the individual will develop technical skills, starting with routine maintenance and troubleshooting and progressing to more advanced repairs over time.

Requirements

Entry-level experience or hands-on exposure to heavy equipment, diesel mechanics, or automotive repair
Willingness to learn and grow technical skills on the job
Basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical systems
Ability to read technical manuals and follow instructions
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license
Ability to lift equipment and work in a shop/outdoor environment
Ability to pass background check
Ability to pass pre-employment drug testing

Responsibilities

Assisting with diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and trucks
Performing preventative maintenance to help minimize downtime
Learning to work with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
Reading service manuals and using diagnostic tools with guidance and support
Accurately documenting service work and repairs
Working closely with experienced technicians, shop foremen, and field teams
Following safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized work environment
