About The Position

The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy-Duty Trucks & Equipment Diesel Technician to help keep the equipment supporting our water and wastewater operations safe, reliable, and ready for service. This role involves performing skilled maintenance on a variety of medium- and heavy-duty equipment and commercial construction equipment used by Water Resources. Technicians play an important role in maintaining this equipment so field crews can safely perform construction, maintenance, treatment, and emergency operations throughout the City. You will work with diverse equipment, make a direct impact on essential services, and put your technical skills to work in an environment where your expertise matters. Requirements

High School Diploma/GED
4+ years of experience in heavy truck and equipment repair/maintenance
Valid Driver's License
Class B CDL License with Tanker Endorsement ('OR' the ability to obtain within 6 months)
Forklift License
Diesel Technology Certificate

Responsibilities

Performing skilled maintenance on medium- and heavy-duty equipment.
Maintaining commercial construction equipment and other specialized Water Resources equipment.
Applying established maintenance procedures and technical practices to assigned equipment.
Troubleshooting equipment maintenance needs to help ensure safe and reliable operation.
Working independently while following established procedures, safety practices, and technical direction.
Collaborating with Equipment Section Supervisors, support staff, and Water Resources leadership.
Maintaining quality workmanship and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
