Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience related to tractor and trailer related components including engine, transmission, brakes, suspensions and running gear
  • Must be able to keep self on track while working independently
  • Required to pass drug screening and motor vehicle background check
  • Must be able to read, write, communicate and collaborate effectively with other co-workers, teams and clients daily
  • Need to be able to physically perform the essential job functions; this includes lifting, climbing, walking, and standing for extended periods

Responsibilities

  • Keep equipment operational by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance including, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters, etc.
  • Maintain vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
  • Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
  • Comply with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
  • Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
  • Keep shop equipment operational by troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance.
  • Manage costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
  • Maintain supplies and stock inventory; placing orders and verifying receipt.
  • Maintain job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
