We are looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined Heavy- Duty Scale Technician to join our Corpus Christi team. If you enjoy troubleshooting equipment, working outdoors, traveling to customer sites, and providing exceptional service, we’d like to meet you. Position Summary As a Heavy-Duty Scale Technician, you will install, inspect, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain truck scales and industrial weighing equipment at customer locations throughout South Texas, including the Corpus Christi coastal region. This field-based position combines mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, electronic, and customer service skills while working independently at a variety of industrial facilities. You will support customers across industries including transportation, ports, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, construction, and logistics. You’ll serve as the face of P&S Scale Company, ensuring customers receive accurate, reliable weighing systems that meet regulatory requirements and performance expectations.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple service calls and priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Current CDL (Class A or B with Air Brake Endorsement), or willingness and ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including Texas heat, and in industrial environments.
  • Willingness to travel throughout South Texas with occasional overnight stays.
  • Basic computer skills for completing digital service reports and documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience servicing industrial scales or commercial weighing equipment.
  • Industrial maintenance, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, or field service experience.
  • Knowledge of NIST Handbook 44 and commercial weighing regulations.
  • Experience operating forklifts, skid steers, cranes, boom lifts, or other heavy equipment.
  • Welding, fabrication, or industrial electrical experience.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, inspect, maintain, and repair truck scales, axle scales, floor scales, and industrial weighing systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, electronic, and software-related issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize customer downtime.
  • Conduct calibrations using certified test weights and specialized testing equipment.
  • Ensure weighing systems comply with NIST Handbook 44 and all applicable industry standards.
  • Complete accurate service reports, calibration certificates, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
  • Communicate technical findings, repair recommendations, and project updates with customers.
  • Safely operate company vehicles, forklifts, skid steers, cranes, lifting devices, and other job-site equipment.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and service vehicle in safe working condition.
  • Follow OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies at all times.
  • Travel throughout South Texas, including the Corpus Christi, Coastal Bend, and surrounding areas for service calls, installations, and emergency repairs.
  • Participate in occasional after-hours, weekend, or emergency service calls as needed.
