About The Position

This role is for a Heavy Duty Mechanic (Tech B) at Avis Budget Group supporting Budget Truck operations. The position involves performing essential mechanical repairs and maintenance on a diverse fleet of newer moving vans and box trucks with minimal technical supervision. The work ensures trucks are safe, reliable, and available, directly supporting customer businesses and a smooth rental experience. Responsibilities include oil and fluid services, lubrication, tire repairs, brake and suspension work, and warranty-related repairs. The mechanic may also assist senior technicians with complex diagnostics and repair procedures. Driving a Budget Truck on public roads for testing, repair verification, or operational support may be required. The role contributes to reducing downtime, supporting fleet availability, and ensuring customer confidence.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License (Class A, B, or C)
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional auto repair experience
  • At least 1 ASE certification, with the ability to obtain 2 additional ASE certifications within the first year
  • Working knowledge of ASE certification areas including, but not limited to: Engine Repair, Drivetrain/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and Light Vehicle/Diesel
  • Comfortable working in a mechanical shop with moderate to loud noise levels
  • Must have a complete set of tools required for automotive repair and maintenance
  • Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, continuously stand, bend, reach, walk, sit and kneel frequently, enter, exit and drive vehicles
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to obtain DOT medical clearance
  • This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience is preferred and considered a strong advantage

Responsibilities

  • Conduct oil and fluid services, lubrication, tire repairs, brake and suspension work, and warranty-related repairs.

  • Drive a Budget Truck on public roads for testing, repair verification, or operational support, as needed.
  • Keep vehicles operating safely and efficiently to reduce downtime and support fleet availability.
