Requirements

  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with off-road equipment
  • Proficient in diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Familiar with John Deere, Hitachi, and Caterpillar equipment
  • Able to read and interpret service manuals and schematics
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety and OH&S practices
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean driving record

  • Red Seal endorsement preferred
  • on-road (tandem truck) experience is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance on a variety of off-road equipment, including excavators, loaders, and skid steers, to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Execute preventative maintenance tasks such as fluid changes, filter replacements and inspections.
  • Identify and solve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and methods.
  • Complete mechanical repairs including engine work, component replacement, and system adjustments to restore equipment to optimal condition.
  • Assist with servicing on-road vehicles, including tandem axle trucks, ensuring brake systems, hydraulics, and basic drivability components are maintained.
  • Operate a service truck to perform on-site diagnostics and repairs, minimizing equipment downtime and supporting field operations.
  • Identify required parts and tools for each job, communicating needs to the lead mechanic or supervisor to ensure timely repairs.
  • Accurately document service activities, equipment status, and parts usage in maintenance records and service logs.
  • Work closely with the shop team and lead mechanic to prioritize repairs and support field crews, maintaining alignment with project schedules.
  • Follow all company safety protocols and OH&S regulations during shop and field work to protect yourself and others on-site.
