About The Position

Finning is growing and looking for multiple Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics to support a customer in the Elk Valley. This role involves working on ultra-class Caterpillar mining equipment. The ideal candidate is a customer-focused Heavy Duty Mechanic with Red Seal endorsement, seeking stability and career growth.

Requirements

Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification (Red Seal endorsement preferred).
Clean Drivers’ Abstract (5 yr).
3+ years of experience as a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician, with demonstrated time in the field.
Strong skills in Electrical, Hydraulic, and Emissions systems.
Ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable.
Union Membership required; union dues will be deducted from pay.

Nice To Haves

Engine and/or component rebuilding experience.
Transmission or Hydraulic testing experience.
Previous gas engine and power generation experience.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and perform running repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on Caterpillar Mining Equipment in a field environment.
Perform preventative maintenance on a wide range of Caterpillar Mining Equipment.
Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.
Complete required paperwork and maintain clear customer communication.
